Hello all, I just want to add the disclaimer that I am not a physician and all herbs discussed have been used by me and have worked for me. I have not experienced any horrid side effects from the herbs I discuss and would suggest that you do your own reasearch if you are unsure about the uses and effects of any substance ingested or applied to the body discussed here or elsewhere. That being said,Today we will focus on a favorite herb of mine (well one of my favorite herbs). Cinquefoil (sometimes called five fingers because many have five leaflets) is a member of the Rose family. This herb is medicinal and can be helpful in treating Diarrhea and as a soothing application for burns and insomnia.
On the magical side this herb helps with money, protection and prophetic dreams. This herb can be burned as incense with sage. Or here is a recipe that I got from Herbs2000.com. I have used this tea a number of times and it has worked quite well for me.
PAIN-RELIEVING DECOCTION
- 4 t (10g) fresh cinquefoil leaves
- 1 t (5 g) fresh valerian roots (if dried, use 3 t)
- 4 cups (1 liter) water
Boil the fresh plants for 5 minutes (or infuse for 15 minutes if they are dried). Drink 1 cup (250 ml), 4 times daily, before meals.
Effective against all kinds of pain stemming from headaches, diarrhea, neuralgia, premenstrual cramps (it really did the trick for me) and even contractions during childbirth (Now this, I would not know about). That's all for cinquefoil, check with ya later!
