Howdy y'all. I have had a very productive day. I had school this morning and only had to work one of the jobs today! Since I had school today I was able to access the internet in the middle of the day for a change and I got to read some blogs that I have missed lately and even respond to some, YAY!
The next couple of days will likely be dedicated to getting my presentations together for finals week. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel though and for that I am most grateful. I will be making a dish that was provided by one alatheiaeunomia (is that spelled correctly?) this weekend for a friend of mine who totally digs the seafood like I do. Thanks to the Vanilla Goddess for the recipe. On a somber note, I am having an issue with which to deal with.....
I think that someone is avoiding me. It is a pretty good friend of mine and I hope that they are not but I am usually right about these things. I think I will ask why at the next opportunity (should one become available). I hope I have not inadvertantly been offensive, which I was quite good at in the past actually. At any rate they have not been hostile by any means which is good because that means that they will still be willing to at least engage with me on some level without anger. I can't put my finger on what I may have said/done but perception is different for different folks.
Today's poem is so super because it is about finding the beauty in the face of seeming disarray. I kinda identify with that to a degree
. Here it goes......
Delight In Disorder
A sweet disorder in the dress
Kindles in clothes a wantonness :
A lawn about the shoulders thrown
Into a fine distraction :
An erring lace which here and there
Enthrals the crimson stomacher :
A cuff neglectful, and thereby
Ribbons to flow confusedly :
A winning wave (deserving note)
In the tempestuous petticoat :
A careless shoe-string, in whose tie
I see a wild civility :
Do more bewitch me than when art
Is too precise in every part.----Robert Herrick
The third line has the word "lawn" which actually is a linen scarf and not a tract of land. I didnt know that upon my first read and thought I would add that for others who may not have known as well.
As for the poem itself, Ah, how lovely is that? To love and be loved as you are. Sometimes dishevelled, sometimes a bit out of order. To be loved and not simply tolerated for that disarray, is absolute beauty. For all of the seeming imperfection of our mother earth isnt she a wonder and a shining beauty to care for? The same with the people in your life and those you will meet on your journey.
If not for those who find "delight in disorder" I would not have enjoyed the company of many a suitor!
That's all for now!
