Hello Everyone, and good Wednesday to you. Well today was an early day at the bakery so I am home in the middle of the day, woohoo! That 6am to 3pm shift will eat you alive. Seems like every muscle in my body is on fire, but my feet hurt the worst. When I think of ways to ease aches and pains there is one thing that leaps to mind almost instantly, Epsom Salt! I know, I know, very old school, but Epsom salt ain't just for old ladies and the infirm. It has a number of uses including but not limited to: a mild laxative, a facial/body scrub and for today's purposes a warm and inviting foot soak. Now you can do this with one of those fancy foot spas that are sold in drugstores or you can do what I do and get one of those all purpose plastic basins (get one large enough for both feet). This should run you no more than 10 bucks as opposed to the foot spa price of 30 bucks. Get some Epsom salt (from you friendly neighborhood drug store),should not cost more than 2 bucks. Now I like to add herbs to everything and since I grow them myself I wont have to put out any extra cash. You dont have to use herbs if you don't have access, the salts work fine alone. Fill the basin with water as hot as you can stand it, add epsom salts according to the directions on the package ( I like to use a little extra), add some peppermint leaves, or lavendar, or add an essential oil ( I prefer cedar, or any mint oil) in the amounts that you like. Try not to make it to strong or your nose will send the message to your head and your head will beat like a drum! Really, those fragrance headaches can really do a number on ya (we can talk about combating headaches another day). Locate yourself on the front porch (If it isn't too hot) or in any spot in the house 'sans' a television. Grab a book or harness those thoughts and get them on paper (who doesn't love a good journaling?) while your feet get some much needed pampering. If you have a teapot you could boil up some extra water to touch up the footbath when things go tepid. The teapot should get the water a few degrees warmer than your footbath water. Don't be afraid to put on a favorite record (or CD, oops I think my age is showing) and let the noise of the day fade away and burn out like nightmares in a sun-lit dreamcatcher. Hope this little ritual helps you as much as it helps me. Have a great afternoon and I may talk to you again later tonight, we'll see how my feet feel first hahaha.
