Let's Talk about Books Bay-Bee Let's talk about You and Me
howdy howdy all!
Well I have been trying to keep up with blogging, school, creating a sci-fi rag and reading for recreation and it has been a chore to say the least. But you know me I dig a challenge. With all the talk of reading books I thought I would talk about a couple that I am digging on right now--
There are so many books that I want to read that my notebook of books to read is almost full for the year. I just finished for the 3rd time a collection of short stories my Octavia Butler called Bloodchild. The absolute best story in the collection is a like a 10 minute read called Speech Sounds. It is an amazing commentary on human connection and non-verbal versus verbal communication. Check it out if you get the chance.
Then there is the book that I just started called Acacia by David Anthony Durham! I can tell you that it is Sci-Fi and that it is really good so far but it is a bit lengthy for the semester I dropped myself in! It is a really good read and if you have some time to kill I say jump on it! I dont wanna say what it is about yet because it may do that twist and turn thing that your speculative fiction sometimes employs---But check it out at the library and see how you dig it friends!
Anyway I was watching the 4400 and I dont like it. I mean everyone is so gorgeous and polished and fancy that I just can't dive in. And yes I do watch some shows where the people are all fancy but damn-it with my science fiction I need imperfection for some reason. I mean in the 4400 the folks are like soap opera pretty, and coiffed within and inch of their lives....kinda the same reason I dont care for that group The BlackEyed Peas--not to mention that lame assed name--ugh really? The BlackEyed Peas? "uhm try to hard much?" okay, so I channeled my inner valley girl but you get what I'm saying right?
Alright kiddos I am out for the evening/morning. I gotta check the school webpage to see if Tropical Storm Humberto is gonna put the kybosh on classes for tomorrow!
Have a good clean fight and no hitting below the belt. Seriously your arguements should stand without degenerating in 3th grade wedgies, purple nerples and wet willies...unless of course that's all you got to work with, if so---(well fill in the blanks).
Later Gators! oh no wait my school mascot is the Celt! So later Celts? nah----Gators rhymes...nevermind
