hello all! Well, my favorite time of year (It's the New Year for me and my fellow pagans) is fast approaching and I am all a flutter with how to aknowledge the day and most importantly the night! I have been digging and scrounging for recipes, spells and/or incantations for All Hallows Eve. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA BE FOR HALLOWEEN? I won't go into the origins of Samhain and how it is practiced today by Christians and Pagans alike under the guise of trick or treating( Paganism as well as any number of other Earth Religions, is many moons older than Christianity ; of course you can't say it out loud or all HELL might literally break loose, so shhh). A great quick reference on the subject of celebrating Samhain is by Gerina Dunwich called "The Pagan Book of Halloween". There are a number of more extensive books on the subject which are indepth and deeply involved (Dunwich has some others) but if you want a quick read on the basics, this particular book of Dunwich's is great. Enough of that, let's get to the problem I am facing; WHAT ARE YOU GONNA BE FOR HALLOWEEN?
I am having some trouble deciding whether to have a party or not. If I have a party then I need a costume! I was a gypsy last year, which wasn't much of a stretch. myclette was Lt. Uhura (I don't know how to spell the name, but the only female Lt. I think and she and Captain Kirk shared the first on screen inter-racial kiss. . This year I don't know, maybe I will be a witch, but again its a bit on the nose! Not only is there Halloween to think about but there is also RenFest which starts in Oct this year and is going to be a series of theme weekends!! I was a Fairy last year but what of this year? Myclette was a pirate, Yargh Matey! So many decisions to make but all fun ones!!!
Oh by the way, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA BE FOR HALLOWEEN?
Let me know, I need ideas!
