Howdy howdy all!
I hope I get home in time to check out Toplessblogger and the gang on Skype tonight if I get home early enough, it sounds like astone gas!
I am to see a university sponsored play tonight, "The Importance of Being Earnest" . I can't wait! I love live theatre, so much so that I am gonna be checking out the summer chills series at the alley theater downtown. They offer discount tickets all summer for matinees (19 bucks) and I go every summer. Plus there is a lecture series on Non- French Impressionist art that will be making the rounds at the Houston Fine Arts Museum and since I have membership I can go when ever I like, with a minimum of fuss and muss! Woo Hoo!
I have a mournig ritual to perform this sunday at midnight, I am actually looking forward to it. I am working on my letter to burn and I think it will really help with healing for all of us who were close to her. I am still angry by the way but I certainly want her send off to go smoothly.
I met a dred (a dude with dred locks) a while back who was decidely interested in me but I couldnt really start anything because I had so little time but now that things are finally winding down I think I might make my move soon, I will keep ya posted on any new developments. The up side is that he is
1. My age
2. Intelligent
3. A poet ( he does poetry slams around the country, I am not really crazy about spoken word but on him it works)
4. He LIKES women his own age (read--my age). Now that is a find y'all!
5. He appreciates a full figured lady (another plus for the Paganista)
6. Good sense of humor (so important if we are gonna vibe on any level)
I am pretty jazzed about it. We shall see how it goes.......
Well I had a relapse on my healthy eating and exercising deal during the whole portfolio writing deal. I got back up on the horse so to speak....
Anyway I am back to posting my regular fare so everyone can take a deep breath and chill it on out!
I will be attending a protest rally on April 10th in lieu of going to class, that whole nasty immigration mess! I will post the details in my next post along with the flyers we gave out at university to all interested and un-interested parties. It is a march for better immigration reform and an opposition to the bill that is before us all....... gggrrrrrrrrrr, I gotta take a stand on this one!
How about some poetry...here goes....
A Litany For Survival
For those of us who live at the shoreline
standing upon the constant edges of decision
crucial and alone
for those of us who cannot indulge
the passing dreams of choice
who love in doorways coming and going
in the hours between dawns
looking inward and outward
at once before and after
seeking a now that can breed
futures
like bread in our children's mouths
so their dreams will not reflect
the death of ours;
For those of us
who were imprinted with fear
like a faint line in the center of our foreheads
learning to be afraid with our mother's milk
for by this weapon
this illusion of some safety to be found
the heavy-footed hoped to silence us
For all of us--Audre Lorde
