Good Thursday everyone.  Well, I read that one of my Mindsay friends has job search troubles so I did some research last evening and decided that today I would offer a ritual for employment blessings.  It's really a request for abundance and good fortune but certainly it applies to employment. This is best done in the evening and since there is a New Moon tonight why not try it this evening.  As always, bathe before and try to work skyclad (nude) if at all possible.  Now you could do something simple like brew a tea of mint, comfrey or bergamot which all are used for drawing money or success and sit in solitude, concentrating on the issue or perhaps doing a creative visualisation exercise (where you picture yourself or loved one surrounded by indicators of good fortune; sitting at the desk of the new job or holding money).  I like something a bit more involved so here we go.  First gather your supplies:

1. Green candle

2. clove oil (if you dont have access to this use mint).

3. cauldron to hold candle 

4. fire-safe vessel to hold herb mix

5. a pinch each of allspice, mint, marjoram, 1 nutmeg crushed, chamomile, bergamot, comfrey and whole cloves.  You don't have to have them all but try to use at least three of them together.

6. Patchouli incense (which I don't particularly care for so I use sandalwood).

7. salt

8. rain water or spring water

9. simmering potpouri pot (optional)

10. charcoal brick (not the kind for barbequing! The small ones which are used for powder incense).

Light the candle and the incense. Mix the herbs in a bowl(I use an athame that I made of a piece of willow I found after a thunderstorm for the purposes of mixing).  If you dont have an athame use your hands, give a little personal touch.  After mixing ask the Elements to bring forth the power of the herbs for work with your request.  I say something along the lines of "Please fortify these herbs for the spell I cast.  By Earth (sprinkle with salt) By Air (pass through incense smoke) By Fire (pass through candle flame) By Water (sprinkle with water). I have an altar so I usually set the bowl of herbs on a wooden pentacle but any clean space will do.  Rub the candle with your oil and inscribe into the candle a symbol of prosperity, like a dollar sign or a heart or even a smiling face, whatever represents prosperity to you.  The design can be as elaborate or simple as you like.  I use oghams myself, my bestfriend Myclette is fond of Rune symbols (There are a number of  books on symbols at most bookstores.  Do some research for future spell work to find your preference.)  Drop the herbs into the simmering pot or into the firesafe vessel holding a burning charcoal brick.  Ask the Air to carry the spell, ask Fire to to release the spell, Ask Water to spread the spell, ask the Earth to bring the spell into being ( I dip the athame into water and then salt during this part, you may use a finger).  Move your athame or hand 3 times over the burning herbs.  Ask again that your wish come true.  Let the candle burn for one hour then snuff with a snuffer, cup the smoke and offer it to the sky.  Rest for a few minutes ( I generally need about half an hour to get back to normal).  Always wash your ritual items after each use lest you mix too many energies.
