The Rapture

I heard a woman on the bus today talking about The End of Days.  She talked about the intensity and frequency of natural disasters.  Her friend answered that the occurances are not indicative of anything as 2005 has not been an above average year for natural disasters or scientific activities(not her words, just my paraphrasing).  The converstaion progressed as we crusied on into downtown Houston(well  not so much crusied as dodged traffic).

The "Doomsdayer" continued with a rant about the state of the world (War, Tsunami, Earthquakes, Hurricanes...ect).

The "Naysayer" countered with how those things have always been and without a shift in values always will be.  These examples indicate what they indicated 20 years ago, 100 years ago and likely 1000, years ago, Nothing.

The Doomsdayer: What about the last time God unleasehed his judgement with the flood?  People probably thought that the signs where nothing to be concerned with until the water started to rise.

The Naysayer: The flood was not God's judgement, it was a shift in nature.  If it even happened at all.  You can't blindly believe everything in a book that has been changed depending on who is in power.

Now things started to heat up.  The Doomsdayer became quite angry and moved to a seat across from the Naysayer rather than continue to sit next to her. Maybe she was worride about the lightening bolt from on high in response to The Naysayers blasphemy.

The Doomsdayer was appalled by the statements and voiced her concerns, to papaphrase: That's whats wrong with this country!  Everybody has decided that they know better than the Lord and the Bible.

She got a collective Amen from the rest of the peanut gallery and continued. "Just because they don't show the bible on Must See TV doesn't mean it isn't worth knowing about. (She really did say Must See TV)>

The Naysayer: I am just saying that lack of religion is not the reason things like this happen.  Wars happen because the people who have to fight don't get to decide if fighting is the right thing to do.  Natural disasters happen because humans have caused so much trouble for the planet that it is probably trying to fix itself cuz we won't (This I agree with). When was the last time you held on to your trash until you came across a trash can to throw it in?  Do you ever throw stuff on the ground? Maybe we should take a realistic look at the Bible and at what we do in the world before we start talking about everybody else who is gonna be judged.

Everybody gave their two cents and I my stop came before I could get the rest of the debate.

So. What do ya'll think.  Is this it? Is it time to get right with "The Lord" or "The Lord and Lady" in my case? Lemme know!
