Howdy Howdy all.... Okay, the comments that I blogged about came collectively from the blog and responses of Doot  and graymatter respectively. I will say that anyone who reads me regularly KNOWS that I do no mention people's names so that personal attacks stay at a minimum. Well in this case the opposite proved to be best course of action. FOR THE RECORD I STAND BY EVERY FUCKEN THING I SAID IN THIS POST! BOTTOME LINE IS THAT SWEEPING JUDGEMENTS ARE  DANGEROUS

Soapbox time! DEFINITION=

Terrorism-the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.

I know what you're thinking...this definition can't be right...they don't mention Muslims! Damn you Merriam-Websters..you obviously hate America!

I read...ahem...uh somewhere that if you do not condemn a behavior then you condone it.

Now, I don't claim to know everything but I KNOW that there are many things that we do not condemn in the world that we ALSO do not condone. This arguement is beyond simplistic. 

 I wonder how many of US would jump up and down in protest against Al Queda if we lived in an area controlled by said terrorist group. Factor in death threats, tortures, rapes and kidnappings that result from such vocal protestations by Muslims who openly condemn the behavior of extremist Muslim groups and I have to say that if I had family living under such tense conditions I would likely keep my mouth shut...but hey...that's just me...call me a coward, I don't care.

If I had to worry about my child, spouse or other loved one being targeted... my condemnation would likely be internal.

With all of the talk about terrorism and homeland safety I have to say that I am OFFICIALLY concerned.

Okay, first the Muslim faith is no better or worse than any other faith...be it Christian, Jewish, Buddhist(sp) or any other.

For someone to declare that all terrorists are muslims is despicable and egregious! And above all INCORRECT!

Whether we want to admit it or not...our Nation would not be what it is today if it were not for acts of terrorism against fellow citizens. The perpertrators of said acts were not Muslim, they were more often than not of the Christian faith. Now slow down...I got no beef with Christianity, I was raised southern Baptist and taught Sunday School for a number of years (not that it means anything).

The problem is that many of the Christians I know and a large number within the Mindsay community feel that THEIR faith is void of wrong-doing. 

Abortion clinics are bombed, homosexuals are violated, children are fetishized, people of color are persecuted...ALL are acts of terrorism! And I am pretty damn sure that the perpertrators of these acts are not ALL Muslim. Hell some of the people who commit these acts are members of our Christian churches and members of our local law enforcement agencies.

The point of this rant...THINK before you make sweeping judgements...Saying AMEN after some horrific statement does not CHANGE what it is...

I said this before and I will say it again...This affinity we have for drawing lines between ourselves and others perpetuates the violence in the world and only serves to make our polarities a bigger focus than necessary as citizens of the world whole. And again I say...SOME CHRISTIANS SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ME!

I am truly terrified when I wonder what children are being taught by their parents....

Bottom Line--Stop bullshitting and admit to yourself what your really are...stop hiding behind religion and OWN your Shit!
