Yesterday's quote was so great that I was tempted to use it again but I think I got something better, or at least as good (it seems to me anyway).
The Pasture
I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I shant be gone long.-You come too.
I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I shan't be gone long.-You come too.-----Robert Frost
I toiled yesterday at both jobs in order to save for my trip to Arizona in January. Only to discover that I won a scholarship that a professor entered my essay in a contest for. Came home to find the check and a note from the Prof. YAY! Go universe!
BTW My bus trip is about a day and 4 hours and has me sitting in El Paso for 2 hours (not excited about that but hey...what are ya gonna do?). I'm sure there are some sights to see in El Paso and besides I have a few books that I have been meaning to read.
Right now it's Memoirs of a Geisha- Arthur Golden, The Gangster of Love -Jessica Hagedorn and I'm re-reading Absolom, Absolom-William Faulkner (even though I don't care for him in general I did finally get into this book. But since it is so dense I had to re-read it to get some of the finer points.
For spiritual growth I am reading The Broken Spears (The Aztec Account of the Conquest of Columbus)-Miguel Leon-Portilla and The Open Space Of Democracy(Prose on the state of the environment)-Terry Tempest Williams. I know, I know I just can't help it, everytime I see something interesting I start reading without thinking about how I will finish the other stuff I am reading..
I just got back from a kind of date I think. Well I am not really dating now but I went out with a very nice man, who is my age but...and Myclette may vomit in horror---he is a VEGAN. We went skating at an actual roller-rink! It was a nice and wholesome time. Keep it coming GROWTH!
